HIV/AIDS INTEGRATED INTERVENTION PROGRAMS ( HIIP )
As of today there is no curative or preventive medicine and more and more persons in the age of 15-45 are infected every minute devastating many families and being a cause for the growing number of Orphan children and especially the HIV Positive children, it becomes more important to educate the people in the target age group with information and initiate preventive measures on HIV/AIDS continuously. The epidemic has thus given rise to a host of problems for the children. Unfortunately only a few programmes are focused across the country are responding to their special needs.
Ever since 1997 CORA had been continually conducting various integrated programs for HIV AIDS Prevention such as Exhibitions, Street plays, Puppet shows, Village Mass Campaign programs, One Day workshops and Seminars and training programs, Publicity through News media, propagation of education all the way through Leaflets, Booklets, Pamphlets, Brochures, Handbills, Wall Posters, Stickers, Hoardings, Sign Boards etc.
The target beneficiaries were truck drivers, construction workers, School and college students, Commercial sex workers, Self Help Groups, Teachers and Lecturers, Grass Root level workers, Health workers and other significant fragment of the community.
More than 10000 programs of the above category and about 35,00,000 people were directly and indirectly reached through these programs. Many HIV Positive patients ,HIV Positive children and AIDS Orphan children approached and have been enrolled in this project through these programs. All these programs were executed throughout Tamil nadu,

SENTINEL SURVEILLANCE PROJECT
The Sentinel Surveillance system was initiated in 2004 in the project area of Tiruvannamalai with the funding support of ANESVAD Spain. The object of this Program is to network all the private doctors, labs and private hospitals in the district of the project area to report the incidence of cases of HIV/AIDS to this office. The cases reported are confirmed with a blood test being field visited by our project staff and support services are being extended to the confirmed cases as per their need and requirement. This sentinel surveillance system helps us in making strategic plans for prevention activities and also to identify the incidence of cases at each area of the district. This program came to an end in 2006 after completion of the project funding support.
